Ryan Diablo hasn't been seen by authorities since October 2024

Facing a jury trial for aggravated assault and discharging a firearm with intent to harm or endanger someone in connection with a shooting downtown Chilliwack on Feb. 4, 2024, no one in the justice system knows where 34-year-old Ryan Diablo is.

Diablo was due in BC Supreme Court in Chillilwack on Monday (Jan. 13, 2025) but, unsurprisingly, did not show up. A warrant was first issued for his arrest on Nov. 27, 2024. A Justice issued a second warrant on Monday.

The incident 11 months ago took place near the post office downtown on Nowell Street. One man suffered gunshot wounds then made his way to the hospital by himself. The hospital was then briefly put on lockdown for safety reasons.

Three days later, on Feb. 7, 2024, Ryan Diablo, then 33, was arrested.

The victim survived the shooting. Chilliwack RCMP say he and Diablo know each. The victim is also known to police but his identity was not shared, and the two are not thought to be involved in organized crime.

“There is no indication they have any ties to the Lower Mainland gang conflict,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Carmen Kiener said in February 2024.

Ryan Diablo is described as:
• Indigenous male
• 34 years old
• 5'10"
• 170 lbs
• Brown eyes
• Brown hair

Police advise that because he is known to be violent he should not be confronted. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Ryan Diablo is asked to contact the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611, or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
