Join me, Paul J. Henderson and fellow reprobate Peter Lang for our new podcast launched to coincide with you-know-who taking control of the nuclear codes

With a face for radio and a voice for print, a video podcast ain't my forte but, screw it, Peter and I are doing it anyway.

Episode 1 of Objects In The Mirror: The Peter Paul Podcast went live late Sunday, the topic coinciding perfectly with Monday's inauguration of The Giant Cheeto.

Trump is in the White House.

Trudeau is in the outhouse.

From the local level rise seeing the rise of the zombie BC Cons in British Columbia to the international stage in Turkey and Germany and Venezuela and Israel, it may be wrong, but the world is moving to the right.

But these are not your father’s conservatives, content to keep taxes low and a foot hovering over the brakes of change. Small ‘c’ conservatism is morphing into populism with its distrust of society’s institutions: the judiciary, academia, the media. This new/not new power-to-the-people brand of right-wingery has a lust to “drain the swamp,” and declare “Canada is broken.”

“Conservatives are committing suicide by turning into radical revolutionary parties,” as historian Yuval Noah Harari puts it, leaving progressives to wonder what happened and why they are stuck protecting the institutions.

The emerging populists on the far right are sounding more like Marxists than traditional Burkean conservatives. It's a topsy-turvy world.

Have a look and a listen and let me know what you think.
